When is a depression counselor needed
By plrprousers | December 13, 2009
We, people, experience depression at one point in our lives. There are just so many things that happen in our lives it is natural to feel down at times. But there are situations when the depression can get serious. It is those times when it gets serious that a person may need help.Because if the depression is not attended to then the consequences can be devastating. In this article we are going to look at some signs of knowing when to seek help for depression.
Depression can affect anyone at anytime as said earlier in the article.Depression can be caused by problems in a relationship or in a marriage.Or the loss of a loved one can also be the cause of it. The reasons for depression that I see in my depression counselor practice varies so much. But it is always important to know when to seek help for depression.
You would know that a person already needs help if he/she is already depressed for a long time now. If you see someone depressed for days and they start to withdraw they may need help.Or another case is if someone has already withdrawn from socializing with other people. As a family therapist San Diego I have seen all these symptoms. Once you see them you need to seek out help.
The reason you want to seek help is because often times a depressed person may hurt themselves if left to themselves. But they can also hurt others that is why you really should seek help for them. Usually this happens when the depression turns to anger.A person becomes very angry and frustrated due to depression and he/she can feek that he/she is already useless. That is when I use my anger management counseling services to help them. Because that anger can hurt others at this point.
So as you can see depression is a serious condition. When you see it you need to get the person treated right away. Their safety and others safety could be at risk.
