Ways on finding a good marriage therapist

One of the hardest things to do when you have marriage struggles is asking for someone’s help. Namely, looking to a marriage counselor to help you.But once you already have the courage to go seek help how do you look for someone that can really help.That is a hard question to ask. But when your marriage is on the line you want to answer it right.
So what are the basis for one to qualify as a good marriage counselor? In my San Diego marriage therapist service I try to answer that for all my clients.My answers depend on what they are looking for. The reason why I say that is because ultimately both people will need to trust the therapist.Because if they don’t have any trust in the counselor then there will be no solution to their problems as a couple. But if they do trust the marriage counselor that will do wonders for a solution. Without trust there will be no common goal or solution for both of the parties.
Another thing that I have learned helping with couples therapy San Diego is experience.Most couples that I have dealt with were looking for an experienced counselor.It makes sense because an experienced marriage counselor have the know how in dealing with different kinds of marriage problems. And from that experience will come solutions to many kinds of marriage problems. This will make it hard for new therapists to gain experience but that is what couples are looking for.
Finally doing marriage counseling San Diego has allowed me to see that most couples want someone with the same values. In other words there are different therapy techniques. But if the technique being taught conflicts with what they believe it won’t work. So you want to find a therapist that shares some of the same views as you.This will make a relationship that will work for you and your partner.
Those were some of the things that couples want to look for when they are looking for a good counselor.Of course, it does not tackle everything that is needed but it will be a good guide in finding good marriage counselors.And that is what couples going through marriage problems want.
