Prudent, hot comedy-tirade is crisp and spontaneous; a notable debut for author-director Krueger. Cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Aieksa Palladina, Mary Kay Place, Paul Guilfayle, Glenn Fitzgerald, and Novella Nelson. (97 minutes, 1996)

Hail the Conquering Hero: Feeble Bracken, denied by Marine Corps, is incorrect for battle idol by home city. Sarcastic tenor Josef Locke and bringing him back to England for an involvement. Charmingly eccentric, old-styled film written by its first-time characteristic controller and leading guy Dunbar, extremely loosely based on genuine-life tale. If Beatty as Locke didn’t lug off the climactic scene, it wouldn’t work-although he does. Cast includes Eddie Bracken, Ella Raines, Raymond Walburn, William Demarest, Bill Edwards, Elizabeth Panerson, Jimmy Conlin, Franklin Pangborn, Jack Norton, Paul Porcasi, AI Bridge, and Freddie Steele. (101 minutes, 1944)

Guys and Dolls: Lavish story of classic Broadway lyrical based on Damon Runyon’s vibrant characters with Blaine, Kaye, Pully, and Johnny Silver revenging their level performances and Brando making a not-poor, lyrical debut as gambler Sky Masterson. Tuneful Blunt Loesser score contains “Fugue for Tinhorns,” “If I Were a Bell,” “Fortune Be a Female,” Blaine’s memorable “Adelaide’s Regret,” and Stubby’s show stopping “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.” Cast includes Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Blunt Sinatra, Vivian Blaine, Stubby Kaye, Sheldon Leonard, and Regis Toomey. The General’s Daughter: Army investigator Travolta exposes more than he ever envisioned while he looks into the murder of a trendy basic’s baby girl, herself a commander. As proof of a chief disgrace grows, it gets to be transparent that the Army’s only interest is keeping a lid on the matter. Slickly finished, however this twisty story from Nelson DeMille’s bestseller has a bulky air of contrivance in regards to it. Heartbeeps: Two androids fall for each other in this misfired futuristic comedy. Scholars of makeup may desire to take a glimpse at Stan Winston’s mind. Cast includes Andy Kaufman, Bernadette Peters, Randy Quaid, Kenneth McMillan, and Melanie Mayron. (79 minutes, 1981)
