Preventing Extra Fees At The End Of A Car Lease Contract

Car leasing includes a number of conditions which must be adhered to. There is a monthly fee which must be paid and in most cases you will have to also pay a deposit to secure against any damages. Car leasing also includes a mileage limit which you should not exceed and the car must be returned to the car leasing company in good condition.
You will have to give the car back to the car leasing company when the contract comes to an end. The company will inspect the vehicle thoroughly once you have returned it. Depending on the outcome of the inspection, the company will inform you of whether or not you will be charged any fees. By knowing where charges could apply, you can try to reduce or prevent any potential charges.
One of the easiest fees to prevent is a charge for exceeding your mileage allowance. At the start of your contract you would have been given a mileage amount that you would not exceed. A customer would have to agree to the mileage limit set at the beginning of a contract and would have monthly payment amounts set accordingly. If you go over the allowance then you will be charged a fee per mile so you should really try to stay within the allowance set.
The car should be returned in good condition. There is a certain amount of wear and tear which is acceptable but you could be charged a fee if the company considers the car not to be in the required condition. You should try to get an idea of what the company considers to be good condition before you take out the contract. Getting the company to give you a description of how they expect the car to be returned in writing is a good idea. As long as you treat the car as if it were your own and look after it then you should be able to avoid any extra fees when you return the car.
