Credit Card Debt Can Be Avoided
By plrprousers | January 10, 2009
Credit cards are considered to be evil by some people and they would never use a credit card for any reason. There are several reasons why someone might not like credit cards, because they may have had bad experiences with them in the past. If their past experience with credit cards was one that included a large amount of credit card debt, they would not a repeat of this experience.
They may have had it drilled into their head not to have a credit card from their parents who have experienced the woes of credit cards, or they may just see no need for them and would rather avoid the mess altogether.
There are also people who are on the other side in this discussion and most of the room in their wallet is taken by dozens of credit cards. Very few people who have several credit cards they use on a frequent basis, actually pay off their balances every month, so this means that they are borrowing at a very high interest rate.
Have you forgotten what a dollar bill looks like because you charge so many things, or do you avoid using credit like the plague?. If you are taking the time to read this article, chances are you are somewhere in the middle, or perhaps you don’t have a credit card and you are thinking of applying for one.
If you are trying to decide if you should get a credit card, it could all depend on how you handle your finances and your personality. If everyone could say they managed their money perfectly, it would be good, but that however, is not the case.
Getting a credit card should not be a first priority for you if you have trouble with your budget, because you probably are not ready for credit. If you are on a monthly budget, putting away money into savings every month, paying all your bills on time and buying only what you need, it may be easy for you to handle credit. If you are able to avoid putting yourself into debt, a credit card may be something you could use, but first give some thought as to why you want the credit card in the first place.
Do you want a credit card to borrow the money to live like you want to and buy what you want. If these are your reasons for applying for credit, reconsider your finances and do NOT get a credit card.
It is just as easy to take a debit card from your bank and swipe it when shopping, if that is your reason for getting a credit card. The sales clerk will usually ask if it will be debit or credit and you can just sign it as with a credit card and go on, if you choose to say credit.
When you have confidence that you can always pay your balance off every month, a credit card that earns points, such as a airline credit card, may be right for you. The balances on this type of credit card must be paid off in full each month or the amount you should receive from the reward points will be canceled out by the added credit charges that will have to be paid.
